Limestone Wines logoSugarloaf Ridge vineyard is a family owned vineyard begun in 1998 by Dr Simon Stanley. Simon’s daughter and her husband, Julian and Kristin Colvile, formerly long time habitants of Hong Kong, assumed ownership in 2007 and are now on Sugarloaf’s 8th vintage and each one has been award winning! The vineyard is positioned at 42 degrees south (the same as Marlborough and correspondingly in the northern hemisphere, southern Burgundy).

A maritime-climate with an abundance of long, radiant sunshine-days and most importantly the discernibly coolclimate acute diurnal changes with plummeting night-time temperatures enhancing fruit flavours and instilling bright acidities.

Moreover, the environment does not come anymore pristine than this and this is taken full advatnage of with the The Colviles philiospohy around minamilist intervention and sutainable viticultre practises, letting the grapes speak for themselves. The wines are unquestionably impeccably made by the grand master vigneron, Julian Alcorso, who has over 30 years experience in the region and is considered one of Australia’s top winemakers. These multi award winning wines, including the 2006 Pinot Noir, awarded 5 stars and Top in Class by WineState Magazine in June this year, are gaining local and international recognition.
