Le Saint Julien Festive Season Menus – Singapore

Le Saint Julien, Singapore’s finest dining room and the most wholesome, classic French cuisine you will find in Asia has just circulated their festive season set menus, covering Friday 23rd, Christmas Eve Saturday 24th, Christmas Day and New Year Eve.

For the uninitiated, this is arguably Singapore’s most conducive restaurant setting with sweeping views of the Singapore River and Marina Bay that add to the ambience both day and night. It’s a great location too, in the heart of the CDB across from the Fullerton Hotel and an easy walk from the Quays.

This is fine dining for sure, although I would not classify it as formal, for it has that rare congenial atmosphere that only comes with an owner-operated restaurant – and I mean the owners are ever-present both front and back of house – with a genuine friendliness and assiduousness of service that is touchstone in Singapore.

Le Saint Julien

Chef Julien Bompard is larger than life and frame (never trust a skinny chef I say); jovial, charismatic and obviously very talented. He has been cooking since he was 15 – I will spare you the bio as its way too impressive, Michelin-starred and will take up too much room in this blog – and yet he describes his food as “classic home cooking” to which I say, if only we ate at home like this.

It is always busy at Le Saint Julien partly because it is a relatively small restaurant seating about 60, with a private dining room that seats up to 16, but more so simply because it has a well-established, loyal following. And frankly, they don’t need any promotion from me, rather I am trying to give you the heads up and advise you to get in real quick if you want to secure a table for any of the festive dates, as it will book out quickly.

Moreover, looking at the Christmas menu, this is excellent value; like you would pay this sort of money just for your main course in a Michelin Star restaurant in Paris, and you have saved yourself an airfare as the foods is good as any in Paris.

And the New Year’s menu is really something else, including free flow Champagne all evening, live band and probably the best rooftop view of the fireworks in all Singapore.

Réserver une table rapidement – Noël a très vite approché, n’est-ce pas!
