Legendary English wine merchant and joint owner of Barossa Valley vineyard Magpie Estate, Noel Young, will be stopping over in Singapore briefly, on-route for the 2010 Barossa Valley vintage. Noel will present current vintages of the full Magpie Estate range that he and eponymous Barossa vigneron, Rolf Binder, craft from exceptionally old vines, including the famous Malcolm Shiraz, the first wine in Australia to achieve 99 points from Robert Parker.
Apart from being an accomplished vigneron, Young has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the wine world and wealth of experience from the London wine trade to share. Moreover, he has one of the best palates I have come across and you are welcome to bring a masked bottle, which I can almost guarantee, he will nail the identity. The Chef at Moomba has prepared some excellent contemporary Australian cuisine at pair with the wines.
