Curtis Marsh has over 25 years experience in the hospitality and wine industries and is one of the most erudite and passionate independent wine writers, commentator and presenter in Asia.

Curtis was the wine columnist for the Hong Kong Standard, Weekend Lifestyle Magazine, China’s leading business newspaper, for 3 years (2005 – 2007), and published in the Hong Kong Tatler, Expat Living (Singapore) and Appetite Magazine (Singapore - Malaysia). He is the wine columnist for Gafencu Men, published in English and Mandarin and circulated in Hong Kong and throughout Mainland China.

Curtis is the consulting wine editor, columnist and features writer for Cuisine Wine & Asia, circulated worldwide to 60 countries with a readership of over 60,000 and arguably the Asia regions most compelling wine and food medium. In addition to this, Curtis writes a fortnightly email wine column and ‘Must-Have Wine’ review that reaches over 8,000 C&WA subscribers including Chef’s, Hotel Managers, Food & Beverage Managers, Caterers, wine buying decision makers and enthusiasts throughout Asia.

Curtis is an accomplished wine judge having participated in numerous wine shows including the 2007 International Wine Challenge (London) Asia held in Hanoi and will be a panel judge in Wine & Spirits Asia Challenge 2008 held in Singapore in April.

Whilst still work in progress, Curtis is developing a section within ‘the wandering palate’ website called ‘Wine Feng Shui’, which will facilitate answering consumers general questions on wine, wine and food pairing, recommendations for cellaring wines and purchasing - globally, and through his exhaustive resources and contacts worldwide, tailoring wine selections for the smallest of dinner parties to major events, no matter where you are.

A New Zealand national and highly regarded Sommelier at the then famous Wellington restaurant Lavelle’s, Curtis was runner up in the inaugural Air New Zealand Sommelier of the year awards. Curtis moved to Melbourne, Australia in 1986 taking up the position of Sommelier with industry doyen Herman Schneider, at the renowned Two Faces Restaurant.

A natural progression from the restaurant front-of-house followed with Curtis consulting to many of Australia’s icon restaurants, designing wine lists and cellars, raising service standards and installing an innovative and progressive wine culture that imbued leading chef’s and restaurateurs in the evolution Australia’s contemporary dining scene.

Wine marketing, distribution and importing ensued. Pioneering some of Australia and New Zealand’s most reputable vineyards and growing organically over fifteen years to a distinguished portfolio incorporating some of the most prestigious vineyards in the world, crystallizing Curtis’s wine industry career.

Having lived in Hong Kong for seven years, and now based in Singapore for the last two years with his wife Lee Leng and four-year-old daughter Hayley, Curtis is firmly entrenched in Asia. He is unrelentingly committed to the vinous edification of the Asia-Pacific region, championing the artisan winemakers of world and in a self-appointed ambassadorial and patriotic role the ‘new world wines’ of Australia and New Zealand, albeit an enduring wandering palate.
